Why Finder elements keep disappearing ?

I have an issue since a time, elements in Finder keep disappearing : typically it's Desktop, Dropbox, Pictures.

Today these are there, but all my external drives don't appear!... All are there, as I can import - for instance - stuff in Final Cut Pro from these drives. But I don't see these in Finder.

Any idea why this more and more frequent issue ?

I just updated to latest Sonoma update

mac mini 2018, 3.2 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7

2TB SSD, 32GB ram

macOS 14.7.5

Desktop, Pictures, and Drop Box are folders included in a typical Mac installation.

Folders that come with your Mac - Apple Support

Share files with others who use your Mac - Apple Support

External storage devices can be shown on the Desktop if you so choose. Select or de-select that option in Finder Settings.
