Podcasts pause when switching to Google Maps

About a month ago I lost the ability to listen to Podcasts while the Google Maps app is open. This was nice because I could navigate while listening. Now every time I switch to Google Maps the Podcast pauses.

Podcasts pausing when Google Maps is navigating In CarPlay while using the Apple podcast app and navigating with with Google Maps, podcasts pause after 5-10 seconds of playing. This has been happening consistently for the last 2 weeks. When I press play, the podcast plays for another 5-10 seconds then pausing. This continues until I close Google Maps. Voice directions have been disabled for Google Maps.
