How do I disable Airpods max charging during wired connection ?

I'm listening to lossless musics via USB-C wired connection to an Iphone. But this automatically charge airpods max by draining battery from the Iphone. This is really annoying given that airpods max battery last much longer than the Iphone even without this happening and you can't charge the phone while listening wired. Any solution? Thanks
