How to stop 'SafariPlugInUpdateNotifier.crash' files from slowing down iMac performance?

I've had the issues of rapid fire "SafariPlugInUpdateNotifier.crash" files dragging down the performance of my iMac for months. Saw volumes of postings online w/ the same issue suggesting various fixes.

One was using the terminal typing in: sudo launchctl disable system/com.apple.SafariPlugInUpdateNotifier

Pass on that.

So I went through these steps:

  • Cleared Safari cache & history
  • Cleaned out crash files
  • Ran First Aid in Disk Utility
  • No Safari extensions/plugins to remove
  • No unknown profiles in System Preferences to delete
  • Rebooted

Finally a Mr. John Galt replied and said "did you try safe mode"?

I thought Disk Utility was the same, maybe not. VOILA! Ran it, took 2 hrs, and the annoying. processing anchor of the "SafariPlugInUpdateNotifier.crash" files have quit, for now. I'm hoping this does it.

Thank you Sir John.
