External SSD has become unmounted. How to remount?

Mac Mini M4, Sequoia 15.4, ssd is: Crucial P3 2TB PCIe Gen3 3D NAND NVMe M.2 SSD; USB-C connection.

Disk Utility first aid...

Volume first aid results in an "ok" report.

Drive first aid results in problems found with partition map; could not mount disk.

Cables/connections not the issue. Rebooted. Physically removed and reinstalled the SSD...all no effect.

How can I restore use of the SSD? Or is it just a low quality SSD and needs replaced?

Is data lost?

Thank you for any insight and assistance!

FWIW, that hub only has a 63% five star rating with only 76 reviews which does not bode well for its reliability. As a matter of fact, scanning over a dozen of different hub listings on Amazon do not show any with really stellar ratings.

Since the Minis are new and these hubs are new, perhaps it is just growing pains with these hubs or just endemic of their quality. I would be willing to bet that the vast majority of them are made by one company (at lest the internals) and simply rebranded as is quite often done. With that the case, you could have common issues across many brands.

With that said, I have found with any enclosure or hub with SSD capabilities that Samsung 980 and 990 Pro and Western Digital 850 Black to be the most reliable.

First try a better quality USB-C cable between the Mac mini and Hub.

(it does not have to be a 6 inches cable)

Mac OS Extended should work for your Photos Library.

However APFS would have been the best choice with the latest macOS versions.

If you decide to reformat the SSD APFS, be sure to copy your Photos Library to another drive first.

The ssd is installed in PULWTOP Mac Mini M4 Hub Stand with M.2 SSD Enclosure,

I don’t have the screen in front of me right now, but I set up the ssd as a Mac OS Extended drive. Is that what you’re asking?

I use the drive for photo storage. I take a lot of photos and it was cheaper to buy external storage than to buy the storage from Apple. My photos library is on the ssd.

I’ve been using it for a few weeks. Have no idea why it unmounted. No hardware was moved, no updates..
