Newest Version of iTunes for Windows 12.13.7, already??

I still haven’t updated to 12.13.5 or 6, on my Windows 10 PC. I always give it a few weeks, in case I read about any “issues.” I was assured it would work fine, as long as I am not running Apple Music & the associated apps. (No chance of that.) Again, I waited too long, and now there is a NEW version!!

But I’m finding very little, online, pertaining to this latest 12.13.7 version. Just wanted to make sure it’s safe & legit. Guess I will have to wait another several weeks to see if there are any new glitches reported by other users. ~sigh~

For a platform (iTunes for Windows) that is “allegedly” disappearing, there sure are a lot of updates! Perhaps this should be reassuring? Not to me, when my current version is working just fine. With ALL SIX of my apple devices. And Apple Remote. And Audioengine. And our home wifi system. And my PC. No complaints.

All I want: to have downloaded the last & final version my PC will run, before the “support” goes away…but then a new version is released.

I know iTunes for Windows users are becoming an endangered species, but some of us (who have huge music collections we painstakingly curated over decades & want to continue to grow) probably spend way more money per month than subscribers, yet we get far less respect! There is a value in owning and growing a music collection. I’ve invested too much time & effort. I don’t want to move it to another platform!!

I want to: 1) Continue to use iTunes & 2) Run the latest version - without constantly fearing whether the next update will “upset the apple cart” (no pun intended).

So my question: Has anyone running Windows 10, who does not use Apple Music with accompanying apps, updated to 12.13.7 yet? Is it working OK for you??

Hi,

I've just installed it. Initial tests seem OK. See the bottom of Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates - Apple Community for download links and advice on downgrading if you install a new version and find an issue with it.

Thank you for your prompt reply, turingtest2. I was hoping to hear from you, as I respect your expertise.

It's unlikely I'll run the update for at least a few days, maybe not even before the weekend. Please advise if it's better for me to wait - should you discover any issues in the meantime.

Not sure why I worry so much. I've always had successful updates (especially since I've avoided upgrading to Windows 11 & refuse to use Apple Music). Any problems/glitches - in the past - were experienced by multiple users and were eventually fixed. It seems there's been almost no recurring (same bug reported by multiple users) issues, lately. Most I've seen were related to Windows 11 and/or Apple Music.

I always run the update as prompted, thru iTunes. Not like I'm using the wrong download or one from an unsafe website or tempting fate with crazy experimentation. Yet I always fear the next update will be the one where I have to restore/reverse back to the previous version!

Just hope that never happens. 🤞🏼

Thanks again.
