RIPPLE COURSE: 2 UP spilt screen edits

Wondering if anyone versed in the Ripple FCP course can help me figure out why I can't seem to create a two up split screen as laid out in thei course manual.

Thanks, I didn't know Ripple had tech. support. I think I tried looking for a phone number and didn't see one.

As for the problem: The manual asks me to make a split screen edit by first marking with an X the exiting b roll clip in the timeline and then finding an aerial from the browser and stacking it above the existing b-roll (which is covering an interview piece below it. Just sizing the two b roll pieces is difficult and even once that is done I can't eliminate seeing the video from the interview behind the two shots in the split screen.

Maybe this has to do with the aspect ration of the files you are using.

It is hard to follow without the specific details of the files, and we don't know whether you are just trimming the clips, or also transforming their scale and position.

The framing of a clip has to be a consideration, too. For example, you don't want to trim away an area of the frame that is relevant.
