MBP 2016 out of storage problem how to block automatic downloads? macOS Monterey

So I have been using my MBP 2016 forever now. I have not been getting any issues, but the running out of storage one.

I deleted soo many files (GB's), despite the fact the system seems to be downloading updates on its own, even though I have that box unselected.

I upgraded my icloud disk and selected all my docs to be synched. It isn't really happening.

It keeps on telling me out of memory storage. I canno treally work, what can I do??? External disk isn't solving the problem unfortunately as I cannot delete anything more on the startup drive.

How do I delete these updates and stop having them suck my space???

Less than 1 GB free? You will need to free at least 80 GB before the machine will function normally again.

I would not backup anything to any cloud site, and try to get the machine into Target Disk Mode and hook to another Mac with more storage and clone backup the data. That other Mac should not be connected to any cloud storage either or have Time Machine. You need to use Carbon Copy Cloner or Superduper.

If the applications you know you can find on the App Store, you can save a lot of heartache just by backing up your Desktop, Documents, Library, Pictures, and Movies folders in your Users -> yourname folder. If any software depends on any password or license keys already stored on the Mac, you may have to find the vendor of your licensed software and just let them know you sadly got your space filled and need a replacement license.

This is where clone backing up is so much better than Cloud, because then licensed files are stored on your clone as well as any stored backup files.
