Can I play songs in the order they appear in my Mac Music library?

Subtitle - I HATE PLAYING NEXT!!! It's why I will not use the Music app.

I want my songs to play in order as they appear in my Library, not in the order Apple wants.

Is this even possible?

Yes. Unless Music is in shuffle or repeat mode it will typically play all ticked tracks in the current view, in the order shown, until it runs out of things and then stops. There is an infinite play button that may show if you use Genius Shuffle which, when enabled, changes things so that when it runs out of things to play from the initial view, an album, playlist, or whatever, it then finds "similar" content to play. You can tap the infinity symbol to turn it off, and can clear the queue in Playing Next, or rearrange it should you wish.

If I'm viewing a playlist and select a song to play then it starts playing, and the rest of the songs in the view get added to the playing next queue, that much is true. But they play in sequence and then stop, unless shuffle, repeat, or infinite play are enabled. What view are you playing songs from? An album view should only play the rest of that album for example, in order. The Songs view and the Column Browser can be useful ways to limit what is displayed, and thus plays after any initially selected track.
