unable to recycle Apple Titanium card

I received a new Apple Titanium card and want to dispose of the old one responsibly.

I followed the steps on the Apple website which ends in triggering a third party to send a shipping label. After multiple attempts, still no shipping label. I then contacted customer service through the chat. Because it was an Apple Card, I was always transferred - after working with me on submission of the same steps I completed before - to Goldman Sachs. The GS representatives worked with me on those same steps again and then a supervisor told me to take the card to an Apple Store

The Apple Store people had no idea - beyond the steps of submission that are online. It is obvious to me the system is broken. Where may I direct my question, because I feel certain I am not the only person impacted.

Ideas???
