To get a free three-month trial you would need to buy an Apple device (in the Apple TV+ page Apple specifies iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, or Mac).
Aside from that, select partnering companies may also offer Apple TV+ free trials in combination with their products or services. Roku intermittently has such offers for a limited time, although I don’t find Apple TV+ there at this time. Walmart also intermittently has such offers for a limited time, including right now. Terms and conditions apply, as set by those partnering companies (e.g. new or returning subscribers only, etc.). Redeem as those partnering companies specify (usually including submitting your Apple Account to them, to link the subscription to).

And conversely, when the extended trial is up, and I decide I no longer want it does it need be canceled on each of the 3 TV’s?
Cancel once for the one subscription through your Apple Account, at least 24 hours before the renewal moment. Pick any one of these possible methods:
- On any of your Apple devices: How to cancel a subscription from Apple - Apple Support
- On the web: How to cancel Apple TV+ - Apple Support
- On third party devices with the Apple TV app: Manage subscriptions in the Apple TV app - Apple Support
- On a PC with iTunes or Apple TV app: Use a Windows PC to cancel subscriptions from Apple - Apple Support
