MacBook Pro M1 recently duplicating files OS Sonoma 14.1.1

Very recently my Mac started duplicating files in Recent when I drag and drop them to another folder. This results in two files with the exact same name in Recent AND the file existing in the folder I dragged it to.

Is anyone else experiencing this? I'm running Sonoma 14.1.1.

Not 3 copies. The Recents folder is just like search results - there's no actual copy of the file in a folder called Recents. If you right-click on a file in Recents and click on "Show in enclosing folder" it will take you to the actual file in its folder. If you delete a file in the Recents folder it will delete the file, not a copy of the file in a folder called Recents. The Recents folder is not a folder like other folders, it's a set of search results.

You can, incidentally, create your own search folders like this. If you do a search in Finder for, say, files bigger than 1GB you can hit the "Save" button at the top right and it will give you the option to put it in Finder's side bar.
