‘OS error code 1’ when trying to install Java 8 update 441 on Mac

I recently migrated from an Intel-chip MacBook Pro to a maxed-out M4Max MacBook Pro 16 2024.

My migrated "MV Charts.jnlp" application now fails to load -- [<== this is the specific problem to solve]

diagnostic: Unable to locate a Java Runtime that supports javaws

went to www.java.com > Download Java for Desktops > Download Java for macOS ARM64

ran jre-8u441-macosx-aarch64.dmg to install Java 8 Update 441 ; clicked Install ; entered PW ; clicked OK

got diagnostic (!) Failed to install java <newline> OS error code 1

I could find on-line no hints re what else to try. Hence, this Q to the Community.

Question: does there exist a download URL for a JRE for this model of MacBook Pro? Or do I need something else?
