HDMI to Display port cable

Hoping for some insight.. I have a 2012 Mac mini and I am trying to run a monitor through a HDMI (in the mini) to Display port cable at monitor. It doesn’t appear to be working. The monitor doesn’t have an HDMI input so I thought this would be the best option.

Note that a 2012 Mac mini would have a Thunderbolt 1 port, with a Mini DisplayPort connector, that can double as a Mini DisplayPort.

You could try connecting your monitor to that port with a simple Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable.

MacTracker says your machine supports “External Resolution: Up to 2560 by 1600 (Thunderbolt) or 1920 by 1200 (HDMI).”
