Auto refresh Safari tabs

My pinned tabs on Safari are not refreshing automatically. I'm getting kicked out of apps. Chrome doesn't do this - It's so frustrating. I would love to use Safari but there's always something that doesn't work quite right.

All my pinned tabs have disappeared in Safari I don't think I did anything I shouldn't have but all my pinned tabs, bar one, have disappeared from Safari. This is particularly annoying as I rely on these daily and now have to look up every site I use! Could this be a bug?

what is the point of pinning tabs if I need to unpin it to properly refresh it.
