2024 M3 MacBook Pro 14 in - vertical lines

Opened my 7 month old MacBook Pro to find vertical lines down the left side of the screen. This is a well known issue -- there was a class-action suit about this for a previous version of MacBook. Is there a software fix? Will Apple cover this with the one-year warranty?

Hi,

I think it's a hardware related issue. "The Apple One Year Limited Warranty covers your Mac and the accessories that come with it against manufacturing defects for one year from the date you bought your product. The Apple Limited Warranty is in addition to rights provided by consumer law.

Legal - Hardware Warranties - Apple

Try to contact Apple Support or take your MacBook Pro to your local retail AppleStore, Genius Bar or Apple Authorized Service Provider to be examined your MacBook Pro and ask if it's under one year limited warranty.

the litmus test is to capture a screenshot, then check the screenshot at smaller size in a scrolling window. if the screenshot is clear, the issue is in the display.

Have your Mac inspected at an Apple-Owned store, if possible. Genius bar appointment for this is free, in warranty or out.

IF the failure is only in the logic 'printed' on the back of the glass, it is more likely to be covered under warranty.

if the glass is cracked into a spidery pattern it is NOT likely to be covered, even if the crack did not express onto the face of the glass.

There is a gray area in between.
