Change hard drive to ssd

Can I change hard drive to ssd on my old 17 inch PowerBook G4? I won’t be able to do it myself. Have to take it somewhere.

Earlier Mac models

OWC sells drives for that model, so finding drives is not the problem. The problem is in taking the PowerBook apart to install the drive. It is not easy. Few techs today work on those.

The other problem is moving the contents of your old drive to the new one. You must CLONE, not COPY. Even then, some apps may require re-activation and many activation servers for software for older Mac are no longer operating. You cannot buy new software compatible with a computer now nearly two decades old.

If the computer still works, I recommend leaving it as is.
