All four ways to transfer original videos from iOS 18 upload files to a PC without metadata or thumbnails.
I have checked all the ways to download videos from iOS 18 to a PC: through the iCloud for Windows app, through the browser from iCloud.com , through Windows Explorer and through the Microsoft Photos app... iOS 18 does not transfer video metadata and thumbnails to a PC using any of these methods. (There is only one exception to this situation - only for thumbnails of videos originally shot in iOS 18 in the most compatible format, and uploaded to a PC via the Microsoft Photos app).
As I wrote in my previous posts, the only way to get videos with metadata, thumbnails, and high quality on a PC from iOS 18 is to initially shoot videos in High Efficiency format, and upload them only via iCloud for Windows and only in the most compatible format (if the HEVC extension is installed on the PC from Microsoft, you should get rid of it in any way possible: if it is installed, for some reason it tightly clings to iCWin).
But even in this case, there is another big problem. After all, full-fledged video files (with metadata and thumbnails) are obtained by conversion - new files are created, which means they have others - new ones! - file creation dates. And this means a terrible mess in the chronology of video archives.… That is, if you shot the video in the summer, but decided to upload it to the archive in the winter, you may have winter dates for creating the video.…
If someone has already encountered these iOS 18 issues and found a solution, please suggest this solution.
