Sorting imported scanned photos on iPhone sorts on original date, not adjusted date

I have scanned photos from 20 years ago. I import all the photos to my Mac. I then changed the date on them all. I export them to share with my spouse. I then import them on my spouse's Mac. Sorting seems to be fine. On my spouse's iPhone photos, the images show up as recent photos. How do I fix that? There used to be a function that allowed you to change the original date of the photo when adjusting dates. I no longer see that functionality. Help
