How do I fix failing USB-C ports on older MacBook Pro and iPad 2021?

Hi All,

I have an older Macbook Pro (2020 Intel), and 2 of the 4 USB-C ports have failed. This happened to my old IPad 2021 M1 Chip tablet too. First question is, is this problem fixable? It seems to be a power issue, strangely. I assume at this point, my ports will continue to fail until the computer is useless.

My second question is: has Apple fixed this USB-C port issue yet? It isn't worth it to me buying another Apple product if they haven't fixed the issue with the main plug in port. That's a deal breaker.

A technician could examine it to tell you whether it has a quick fix (such as cleaning) or needs repair (such as physical damage).

Only you can say whether it is still a problem for you. It is not a problem that people complain about much here in this forum, but I have a friend who seems to be pretty hard on connectors in general.
