If the gym's WiFi router has a whitelist (MAC address filtering), it allows only pre-approved devices to connect. When Private Wi-Fi Address (MAC address randomization) is enabled on your device, the MAC address may change under certain conditions, such as:
- Frequent Network Switching – If you connect to different networks often, your device might generate a new private address when reconnecting to the gym's WiFi.
- Restarting the Device – Some devices generate a new private address after a reboot.
- Resetting Network Settings – If you reset your network settings, the private address will change.
- Software Updates – Some OS updates may trigger a MAC address change.
When this happens, the gym’s router will no longer recognize your device, and you’ll need to re-enter the WiFi password or have the new MAC address manually whitelisted again.
To avoid this, you can either:
- Disable Private Wi-Fi Address for the gym's network (in Wi-Fi settings under the "i" icon next to the network name).
- Ask the gym staff to update the whitelist with your new MAC address whenever needed.
