Audio latency issue on my MacBook Pro
Hi.
I'm looking for help because I have an annoying problem. I've been using a 2012 i7/16GB MacBook Pro (macOS Catalina) and a Roland TD-27 with built-in audio interface for live playing in Superior Drummer 3. Sample rate has been set to 64 for several years and zero problems - even with several background apps on, including YouTube.
I decided to upgrade to a 2015 i7/16GB MacBook Pro with macOS Monterey. Since then I've been hearing crackling, popping, and the CPU on the theoretically more powerful laptop is being used up 100%. I'm already used to the low latency, so I don't want to raise the sample rate. I used the Roland TD-27 driver from the version for the Catalina system and the dedicated one for Big Sur/Monterey - no change. I also did a system downgrade from Monterey to Big Sur - still the same.
How is it possible that more powerful hardware can't handle what a 13-year-old MacBook can? Today I installed macOS Catalina (as in an older Mac) and it's better, albeit with occasional crackling.
