Reminders app on iPhone keeps forgetting the schedule part

I have set reminders once an hour to never stop repeating daily. I went in originally set each separate reminder for the different hours in my waking day that I wanted to be reminded. That consisted of setting eight reminders each with its own schedule of the day to repeat daily And never end. Every day, several of the reminders drop the schedule and are just listed as a daily reminder. So each day I select each one and reschedule the same as above. I am not changing time zones and I also went to settings to not share with other devices in the cloud because the computer and iPad are not where I wanted the reminders and it seemed to be worse when I had it sharing in the cloud. Very frustrating.

So let me regroup, and get a clear picture of the situation, if I may.

You have eight reminders, each one set to a different time of day, with the “Repeat” set to “Daily”. Now, each of these reminders should go off at their specified time every single day. But, a few “forget” at which time they should go off. Is this an accurate picture of the situation?

If so, the reminders that don’t go off:

  • Is the time correctly set?
  • Is the pm/am configured correctly?
  • Do you make sure to press the little circle next to all eight reminders, every single day? Otherwise, they won’t go off the next day. See image below:

  • Do you use the “Daily” in “Repeat”, and not something in “Custom”?
  • Is “End repeat” set to “Never”?
  • Is “Location” and “When Messaging” off?

Looking forward to your reply!

Hello!

So I think we need some clarification on when you want the reminders to go off. Do you want the reminder to go off once an hour, every single day?

What happens when you set the “Repeat” to “Hourly” and the “End Repeat” to “Never”?

Thanks for your reply. I set each hour up individually with a different name, scheduled the specific time of day and selected repeat daily and never end. I have not tried it to have the same reminder set hourly.

My other problem is attempting to confine the reminder to my phone, so it doesn’t remind me on my watch or my iPad or my laptop, all Apple products. So I went into settings and set the Reminders app to not share in the cloud. It is still sharing. I tried taking the app off of the iPad, but it reappeared and still reminded me.

I don’t want it to run hourly with the same reminder because it will run all night. I only want it to run during the day. That is why I laboriously added each one for each hour and did the scheduling time and then set each reminder to daily, and to never end.

I make sure each one is correctly set. I touch the circle next to each one when it comes up or has gone by a few minutes. When it malfunctions what it does is forget the schedule. I look at it in the morning and two or three or sometimes more of the reminders have dropped their schedule altogether and just say daily. When I click on the eye next to each one, it doesn’t have a schedule. But when I created the reminder and then fixed the reminder when it malfunctioned, I always put the schedule and make sure the AM PM is correct and it’s easy to tell about the a.m. p.m. because I have them numbered 12345678 according to their schedule. When the schedule gets dropped from the reminder, it goes to the beginning and doesn’t have a time. This happens quite randomly, for example, yesterday‘s reminders appeared correctly today. The day before yesterday‘s reminder list, dropped the schedule on three of them and put them in the top of the stack. I had to reschedule each one of those and then it flipped to its correct position in the list. I do have location turned off but I don’t see where you can set “when messaging”. I have an iPhone 14 Pro with the current iOS.

I make sure to touch each one of them every day once they have reminded me

Thank you so much and I really appreciate your attempts to help. Since I was pretty sure I was doing everything right I think there are some glitches in the app. I may try and reach out to them, I have an iPad, a watch and a laptop that are all within an extended warranties, but not my phone. They will probably help me anyway without charging. Thanks again because there was always a chance that there was some thing that I hadn’t set correctly. I just didn’t notice that It looks like there might be there are several ways to end up with reminders. I might do a little more research on that

Thanks again people who are willing to give their time as you have really help to learn about the technology and to make it function better, again thank you!
