Deleted a pages file and can’t find it

Hey so I solved this already, but I’m finding a lot of people having this problem so I thought I would just give instructions on how to fix this issue here. I got my files back without downloading any external file finder. So here’s a lil step by step!! First, go to iCloud.com and log in. Go to the bottom of the page and press “data recovery” in the bottom right. Then press “recover files” and select the files you want to recover!!! If the file is backed up to a previous save, you can still get it back don’t worry!!! Just go to the document, go to the top toolbar, and  go to File > Revert To > Browse All Versions, then browse the timeline to select and restore the desired version Hope this helps. I definitely had a panic attack when I lost my file so I really hope that anyone who sees this can get their file back too.

This doesn't help the typical user who loses files on their local drive though, and the iCloud data recovery is limited to a sliding 30-day window. Beyond that timeframe, you don't get them back because iCloud is not a proper backup solution.

This is why the use of Apple's built-in Time Machine and an external drive is the principal means of recovering files, whether deliberately or accidentally removed.
