problem with external drives on mac mini m4 os sequoia

I have a problem with external drives on mac mini m4, despite unchecking the disk sleep option in settings/energy, the drives go to sleep even while working on them.

Mac mini, macOS 15.1

I use the same drives on two different Mac minis - M1 with Monterey and M4 Sequoia.

There are no problems on M1. On M4 I tried with different cables and different power supplies, the problem is repeated all the time.

I work on Premiere Pro, even while watching shots at some point it stops and I hear the drive wake up. It looks a bit like it has some part buffered, and when I jump to another place, there is a problem. Could it be a problem with the computer?

I have several drives that I use between my Intel iMac (Monterey) and my Mac Mini M4 (Sequoia) and all read fine. All my drives are SSD in USB enclosure or NVME drives in TB enclosures. All my drives are WD or Samsung with APFS format. Looks like you are using mechanical drives. How are they formatted? I do not use mechanical drives so cannot test.

Yes, I use mechanical drives WD My Book, 14TB and two 8TB, 14TB is formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled), 8TB as ExFAT. I also tried on Mac with Intel, they work great. On M4 both have the same problem. I will try formatting one of them as APFS and see what happens, that is a clue, many thanks, I will let you know if it helps.
