How do I share calendar between two users on MacBook Air M1 ?

There are two users on my MacBook M1 Air. I would like to share my Apple calendar with my wife. Some instructions tell me that both users must be logged in to the iCloud with the same Apple ID. I can not find an option to sign into "my" iCloud while in her account or any option to sign in using my Apple ID.

Other instructions imply that sharing is only available with the iCloud plus.

Any advice/suggestions...

Thank you for your time

Where did you see these "instructions".

From reading your query I understand that:

  • You have one Mac
  • You have two user accounts on your Mac; one for yourself and one for your wife.
  • Each user account is signed into iCloud with different iCloud/Apple accounts
  • You have the basic free 5GB iCloud plan

You can share your calendars from each of your iCloud accounts and you don't need one of the paid iCloud+ plans to do it. When you make a change to the calendar in your Mac user account, your wife will receive these changes to her calendar when she opens her user account.

on how to set this up. The example is from an iPhone but it is the same in the Mac calendar.

You will need to do this for each of the calendars you wish to share in the app. One might suit you or you might want several.

Also investigate the Family Sharing service.

Thanks for the link. Obviously I am doing something wrong. The closest I have gotten so far is sending her an invitation that seems promising until I get this message.

All the indications I find from "my" calendar tell me I am sharing. <Grrrr>

EDIT: Don't know if this has any bearing but her calendar app icon has a number one over it. I would assume this to mean some sort of message but, I can not find anything to turn that # 1 off or cancel it. ??????
