Apple Support Community helpful volunteer contributors offer

advice in their replies to those in need.. Search engines say

what they will; not effective or thorough as this Community.

Creative contributors to Apple Community have also offered

free diagnostic non-invasive tools; that do not gather any

personal details or private information. And can present you

with a useful report.. That report can be added to ASC reply

and other members here at Apple Community can help you.

  1. Navigate to: https://etrecheck.com and get the free version of EtreCheckPro.
  2. Download it. It is a free and trusted app. It is often recommended here on Apple Support Communities.
  3. Open EtreCheck, and before running the report, be sure to check “Allow full Drive Access” at the bottom of the EtreCheckPro window.
  4. Run the report, and put it in a post, as seen here: How to use the Add Text Feature When Post… - Apple Community. We will then examine the report for issues in your Mac.

By the time I considered retailer options to etrecheck and

their writings in DuckDuckGo search; I have used EtreCheck

for more than 15 years, and seldom make those mistakes

I once did years ago.. And so I appear to be following an

other contributor to suggest ideas after; so be it..

(EtreCheck provides this excellent and free service ~ *see what

Jack says in his reply, about the 'EtreCheck' product in above.)

There are a few official Norton instruction pages online & likely

others who'd like to sell you a dog-pile of extras, and may still

leave you compromised beyond the original insult..

Uninstall your Norton device security product on Mac Support Norton.com

As most/all add-ons are unnecessary & can cause issues in

the natural workings of an Apple OS; to cause odd problems

~ and so the general advice, is Not to Install these at All.
