Plug ins not showing up in Garageband

I have been able to successfully use processing plug ins and the ones to add effects but the ones that have instruments never show up. I've checked that they are in the audio unit format but they don't work. Does anyone have any advice?

GarageBand recording audio cuts out above certain decibel When recording audio on Garageband, it doesn't record audio above a certain decibel. I've tried resetting controls and I can record audio through the same equipment for other apps with no issues. It's just an issue on GarageBand. I don't know how to fix this.
