Why is Xfinity email downloading so slowly on iOS 18 using the Apple Mail app?

For the last month or two, Xfinity/Comcast emails have been downloading very slow on my iPhone and IPad. Both devices have been running on the latest iOS 18 versions and I am using the Apple mail app to use my mail. The mail account setting on my devices only have fetch settings, so mail cannot be pushed. Retrieving and downloading mails can take minutes. On the Xfinity side they have a third party mail setting that when checked allows you to get your mail on your Apple device. Unchecking results in errors and no mail access. I also use the IMAP server setting.

This issue is very frustrating and I hope someone has a solution out there!

I have the same issue. Ever since iOS 18. I keep hoping the new updates will fix it but I’m up to 18.5 and it still persists. It shows the email but doesn’t download the body of the email for several minutes. My yahoo and gmail accounts work fine with mail app but not xfinity. Any updates ???

Case update email from Apple Support agent on 5/3/2025:

"The engineers are still looking into this case for you and the process could take days, or weeks even. This process does take time."

She has agreed to provide weekly updates.

I strongly suggest anyone with this issue contact Apple Support and ask them to reinforce that this issue IS impacting their customers and needs to be fixed. The more they hear about it, the more attention it's likely to get.

(it's driving me crazy too)

FWIW: MS Outlook for IOS handles Comcast really well for me - it's a temporary option, though it may require a subscription, I'm not sure.
