How do I free up space on a 128GB iPhone with 190GB of photos?

The iPhone storage is full, the photo takes up more space than is available on the iPhone. The photo takes 190 GB, and the iPhone takes 128 GB. The failure occurred after buying iCloud +

If it still shows nonsense: Erroneously the iPhone 11 show as 190 GB for Photos under iPhone storage where as the device is 128GB capacity.

  • Backup your phone to iCloud or computer
  • Erase all content and settings
  • Restore from backup

That’ll clean up any junky system calculations.

Are you using iCloud Photos? If so, do you have Optimize iPhone Storage enabled in Settings on your iPhone?


If you've got a lot of photos and videos, and there isn't enough device storage on your iPhone to comfortably store full-size copies of them all, using iCloud Photos and "Optimize iPhone Storage" could help. (Assuming you have or are willing to pay for enough iCloud+ storage.)
