white lines on icons on the dock

Since the latest update my 2020 macbook air has stripes on some of the icons on the dock, which disappear when putting the cursor on them. Why? On this screenshot it is the calendar and the google chrome icons. Some days it is other icons. The computer has also been a little skittish overall. Overheating when not many programs are open, shutting down programs in the middle of a process. Is a 2020 macbook considered old?

Hello eurythmyincalgary,

A solution I saw on another forum is to go to System Settings > Appearance, select the 3 appearances one by one (Light, Dark, Auto), waiting for each of them to be applied to the screen, and reselect your original appearance.

Your Mac is not considered old yet. You may have some processes running in the background that slow down your Mac. A common culprit is an anti-virus.
