What more do you need to know?Mac .Min I 512 gb hard drive is full and all I have on it are logic banx in a box and Microsoft office 365. It seems to add more overnight. How can I move large chunks of data to my external drive which is a 4 TB NVMe and I’m not talking about clearing out caches. I’m talking about large chunks of data like 50 GB at a time because this thing fills up really quickly. Also, how do you tell a program like Ableton live to install from the beginning on an external drive. I found that moving and deleting programs manually doesn’t really move or delete programs.

You did not tell us what categories are the largest. Apple provides an easy way to move Photos, Movies and Music to an external drive. You can Google those for Apple directions If you have other files from these categories then select as desired and move to external drive. Your other choice is to make a larger external boot drive and use that as your main OS.

Stuff like Ableton itself must be installed internally. Your projects could be external, although an active project will work more effective internally. I don’t know about Ableton, but Pro Tools or Cubase allow you to save projects (audio files) wherever you want. There should be a dedault folder to decide.
