Logic timeline duration discrepancies when determining length of section

I need to determine the precise duration from the beginning of my Logic Pro project to where a new section begins. When I place the playhead at the start of the new section the playhead position time in the control bar reads 07:53.846. However, when I use the cycle range to select this same duration the length of the cycle range bar reads 07:53.858 and this corresponds to the secondary ruler timecode.

Which is the correct duration for this section? Why are they different?

Thanks for the replies.

I'm working with time mm:ss.ms rather than bars but have the grid and snap on. With the playhead snapped on to a grid marker I was getting a different time position when comparing the playhead position time in the control bar to the length shown by the cycle bar when selecting from 0 to the playhead, and the time on the secondary ruler. The ruler and cycle length were consistent but 12 ms greater than the playhead position time.

It turns out that it is something to do with the project frame rate setting. I had previously been referenceing a video in the project and the project frame rate had been changed to 60 but after changing frame rate to 25 fps the timeline positions are now all the same.

So problem solved, although I don't fully understand how the two are related.

Yes but how do you end up with two conflicting timelines? Would you not expect the cycle range to sync with the audio timeline no matter what the frame rate? Should Logic not compensate for a frame rate change and keep everything in sync?

Does changing the frame rate not just make the video playback faster or slower in relation to the timeline? I thought the secondary ruler was just to display time rather than bars but it appear to also be affected by the frame rate.

I probably need to do some research on this but I guess I was wondering if there's some settings in Logic that I need to change that would keep everything in sync so I don't inadvertently end up in the same situation?

OK, so you can't change the frame rate mid project?

I have been getting pop up warnings about frame rate being different from the project when importing video. I tried importing the video at 25fps (the project rate) even though it was recorded at 60fps but I found that I couldn't accurately align the video with audio as the video timeline resolution wasn't fine enough, maybe because of the snap settings?

I found if I imported at the recorded 60fps rate I could get closer in the alignment, but this was obviously changing the project frame rate and causing the issue.
