I can’t search for messages before a few weeks ago

When I go to search in my messages it only shows messages up to about 3 weeks ago. I’ve tried syncing to ICloud and it doesn’t help, and I’ve tried to turn iCloud messaging off and clicking disable and download but that didn’t help either. For a while it was saying “ more results will be shown when messages finishes indexing” and I scrolled through the community to figure that out and it’s no longer showing that but still won’t let me search older messages. Any ideas? My phone just automatically updated about two days ago and that when this started.
