Why is my Safari search history still visible after turning it off?

I don’t want to see any trending, suggestions, predictions or history. I have turned everything off - my settings look like this -

Everything off. And yet my search page looks like this -

It’s doing the exact opposite of what it’s set to do. It’s also consistently saving bookmarks, history and tabs when told not to and everything has been deleted. This is driving me nuts. It’s just started after sequoia update.

Can't clear all history in Safari Over the past week I've been unable to clear all of my history in Safari. Each day has 1-5 random sites that remain after I do a total "clear history." Anyone have a similar problem and solution?
