iPhone 16 volume buttons are not responding

“I’m having the same problem but just with the volume up button. Started working again but then did the latest update and it’s stopped again. Any suggestions before I make an appointment at the Apple Genius Bar.”

So, does the Force Restart work? If not, then the button are not just a volume issue. If so, then it may be the sound giving you issues:
