Selling a MacBook bought with a student discount

👉 My friend is a student. Four months ago, he bought a MacBook Air with a student discount.

👉 Now, he wants to sell it to someone who is not a student.

👉 Will there be any differences when the new owner is not a student? For example, could there be any restrictions since they weren’t the original buyer under the student discount program? Would there be any issues with warranty or anything else?

👉 Can you give me some advice and any important things to consider for this transaction?

A student discount is just that. No related issues with the operating system other than they need to wipe the Mac and reinstall the same operating system on it to rid it of their user ID, iCloud Account, and related software purchases. Apple requires the following:

Don't buy this Mac if it remains under remote management by the student's school IT staff, if it is under a payment plan with a financial institution, if it has an NVRAM hardware password, or if they cannot show original proof of purchase, so you know it wasn't originally stolen. Confirm they have not spilled liquid on the keyboard and failed to have Apple service down on the MacBook.
