Final Cut Pro when analyzing/editing EQ, my waveform disapears whenever I pause playback

I'm trying to adjust Channel EQ on Final Cut. When I select analyze and play the clip, I can see the waveform with no issues. But the second I hit pause, so I can actually adjust the frequency levels, the waveform disappears. I need to see the waveforms as I adjust the levels, but they go away as soon as I pause playback. Has anyone run into this issue? The screenshots below are of when the clip is played back, and the second screenshot is when I hit pause, and the waveform goes away. Thanks for any help!

Since the analyser works in real-time that is the behaviour I would expect - if there is no audio there will be no waveform. You can adjust the parameters as the audio plays. If there is a particular section you are concerned with then you could set a small range on the timeline, make sure loop is enabled (cmd-L) and play the selection on repeat (slash key /), adjusting the parameters as you go.
