Apple News+ games not syncing between devices while playing or otherwise

I often play quartiles on my phone, but sometimes want to play on my computer or iPad. The game data doesn’t sync between the devices.

I deleted the news app on my iPad to try to reset it and after reinstalling it, no games are showing as played.

additionally, my scores aren’t being shared with my friends even though sharing is on. It shows “null.”

I’m signed in to Game Center.
