On what device are you doing this?

What OS and version is it running?

By mp3 player you mean Apple's Music app, or some other 3rd party mp3 app?

If you are downloading podcasts from the Apple Podcasts store, they will be stored in the Apple Podcasts App, you don't need to drag it anywhere else. Podcasts are played directly in the Podcasts app.

Otherwise, please provide as much detail as possible about your issue, including specific device and OS version, and the actual apps involved and where exactly you are downloading the podcasts from. Otherwise it's impossible to offer any advice.

Thank you so much - and apologies for so few details.

  • I am on a MacBook Air Version 15.3.1 Apple M2
  • I am looking to transfer podcasts from the apple podcast store to my Shokz Apple Swim Pro so I can listen to the podcasts while I swim laps.
  • When I go to the podcast app on the Mac and download an episode, it does not let me drag and drop the episode in MP3 or WAV (or any format) to the Shokz (which pops right up on Finder)
  • I am able to drag and drop books but not podcasts.
  • I am not unique in having this problem, but none of the chats are identifying a solution other than leaving Apple podcast store.
  • Help? Thanks!

You can drag podcasts directly in Finder for the folder they are in, but not form the Podcasts app.

To find the Downloaded Podcasts, Open Finder, click on the Go menu at the top, then on Go to Folder, and then copy and paste the following line into the text box at the top.

~/Library/Group Containers/243LU875E5.groups.com.apple.podcasts/Library/Cache/

You should see the MP3 files for the downloaded podcasts there and can drag them any where you want including the Swim Pro device on the Finder's Sidebar.

This is extraordinarily helpful -- and extraordinarily complex! How would anybody know how to do something like this? I am so fortunate that you did. The old interface on the Mac was so much easier - for both audio books you could just drag into the attached device no problem. you didn't need to be a coder! But grateful for you!

If you happen to know how to get an audible book (which saves inexplicably as aax) to be an mp3 that can be dragged, it would be great. Audible has a converter but it doesn't work with MAC - just PCs.
