2017 5K iMac rebooting randomly
Hello,
(First of all english is not my main language so if it’s not perfect I’m sorry)
So I recently bought a 2017 5K Retina iMac for cheap because the seller described it as « not fully booting » the Apple logo would show up, the progress bar would load slowly then it would go back to the start of the progress bar. The first thing I did was a clean install using the recovery mode (Catalina). Then I installed the newest supported macOS Version (Ventura). After a s short time I noticed the Mac was restarting itself randomly (within 5 minutes or so). It would freeze for a minute then restart (I will join a copy of the crash report). I decided to do some tests like removing one RAM, then the other one, switching slots etc but the problem still occurred always within 5 minutes. I had an external hard drive with a copy of Monterey on it so I decided to boot onto it to see if the issue might be related to a faulty disk in the iMac (It came with a 1Tb Fusion Drive) and after testing it for about an hour with no issue at all I thought the problem was solved so I decided to clone the external hard drive into the Fusion drive in hope of the problem occurring again so I would be sure that it was related to the Fusion Drive.
To my surprise the problem didn’t occur for HOURS, the Mac runned perfectly. I did some other tests like heavy benchmarks to see if it may be related to some CPU or GPU defects but none of it caused the issue to come back until a few minutes ago. I was browsing the web then boom, freeze, restart. I am very confused. Using Monterey the problem don’t seem to happen as fast as it did with Ventura, but it still do after some time. Any idea of what might cause the issue ? Do you think it can be related to the Fusion Drive ? Cpu ? Oh I also noticed the ethernet port is not working… Maybe it’s related
I’m joining the crash report that shows up after the reboot and an EtreCheck report I did after the Monterey cloning.
I hope I described the issue as clearly as possible, let me know if you need more information
Thank you to anyone who will take the time to look at my problem
