changing horizontal video to verticle

I'm following the steps to change my horizontal video to vertical. Right clicking on the clip in the project browser, choosing "duplicate project as" in the pop up box then choosing "vertical", 1080x1920 and checking "smart conform" in the subsequent pop up box and ok. It transforms the clip in the project browser however, it only one frame and not the video. Any sugestions?

Aspect Ratio defaulted to vertical instead of horizontal - help! Hi, I created a montage movie of videos and pictures. I created it the same way I’ve always done. However someone it is defaulted to crop all my videos and pictures to vertical orientation? My version is 10.3.5 and everything I’m reading is that it should always default to horizontal and that you can’t even change to vertical if you want to. So what happened? I spent hours putting in video clips and pictures and can’t find anyway to normalize the aspect ratio. Can anyone help or explain this? I think I have to start my project all over. The only thing I noticed now the very first picture I dragged into my video was a vertical picture. Did this auto select my aspect ratio to vertical? Crazy that there is no way to change it!

Why does a 720 x 1280, 30 fps vertical project look so much slimmer in FCP than in Motion 5? I have been using FCP to edit down videos that will end up as "Shorts/Reels/TikToks" for social media. I watched a tutorial that showed me to locate the original 1920 x 1080 project in FCP, then right-click on it > Select: Duplicate Project As... and when the settings box opens, simply select Vertical in the Video dropdown. This does a little rendering, but then... out pops a project that is perfectly in this "Social Media" format. I've done this many times now. But... today, I wanted to create a little "Title" sequence in Motion that I can import into FCP to use for these videos. In Final Cut Pro, if I go to one of these "Vertical" projects, and view the project settings, I see that they are all 720 x 1280 30 fps. So... I open Motion, and create a new: Project/Title/Generator, giving it those same dimensions, 720 x 1280, 30 fps. But when the project opens in Motion, it looks like completely different dimensions. In FCP, 720 x 1280 looks like the dimensions of an iPhone. But in Motion it looks much wider. I must be missing something very obvious.

Open the original project. →Take a screenshot with shift+⌘3. →Show me your screenshot
