Unauthorized Charges on My Apple Account

Hello,

I have noticed unauthorized charges on my Apple account, but I am not subscribed to any service. I have checked my subscriptions and purchase history, and I do not see any active subscriptions that could explain these charges.

Could you please check my account and let me know where these charges are coming from? If they are unauthorized, I would like to request a refund and prevent future charges.

Looking forward to your response.

Your mother-in-law spent $700 from a device that she was permitted to use, playing games that you were at least somewhat aware of.

Your discussion here is with her and her spending, and potentially also a discussion with the password- or passcode-sharing relatives. And potentially with small claims court, if repayments are not forthcoming.

Recovery from the security breach:

  • You will want to re-set your Apple Account passwords and device passcodes,
  • reset all of your passwords as those can have been compromised so that means fresh new and unique and robust passwords for everything including your password reset paths via email,
  • passwords and passkeys and tokens for any social media accounts,
  • online sales vendors and online purchasing accounts,
  • checking for any other devices sharing your Apple Account,
  • and also enabling two-factor authentication if that’s not already been enabled.
  • It’s also possible that data has been deleted,
  • any saved payment information compromised or Wallet used,
  • that tracking and location permissions have been enabled and shared,
  • and other settings altered.

Some related info:

If selling all of the Apple gear is your best solution for dealing with what happened here, then by all means sell it. Most anything else you purchase will get shared with and potentially more purchases from, if your credentials on the new gear are again compromised and shared, too.

I do too. So so many and they are refusing to refund me. Worst company ever! Furious!

Have you been loaning your iPhone or iPad to others, or have set up Family Sharing with payments enabled for others, or sharing an Apple Account with others (whether intentionally or unintentionally)?

If you’re not buying this stuff, then somebody else you’ve authorized access to your Apple Account is, or you need to re-secure a compromised account.

Yes my mother in law was using my phone playing her card game. Keep phone unlocked so she can play. I don’t use my phone too much. Somehow she got my apple password, could have been seen from my niece or nephew and put it for her, who knows. But $700+ in charges. Find out later she was also playing some fruit candy game. Apple

agents said they wound help and submitted for me and assured me it would be taken care of. Next day check status and refused. Call back next day. Same thing. Every day for the last week. It’s been a nightmare to say the least. They lie to you just to get great feedback (the surveys). Furious with them. Been with apple for over 10 years. Getting rid of phone, new MacBook, iPads, husbands iPhone, HomePods. Everything. Never supporting this company again.
