How can I import a .ics file into Calendar?

I use Gmail as my email and Ive been sent an .ics file with calendar details, but I dont have an option to import it to my calendar?

Im running iOS 18.3.1 on my phone and I've downloaded the file, so I can open it in the files app. There is no option to open in calendar thought? When I try and create a new event in my calendar, there is no option to import.

When i use multiple fingers to drag it into the calendar app, i get a 'plus' option to add it, but nothing happens?

Any suggestions on how to use this file to create an event?

I have an iPad running the latest version of iOS. The instructions I find all tell me to open the ICS file in the iCal app, but iCal is not an available app from the list I am presented. I can’t find a way to add the app to the list either. I can download the ICS file to the File System and open it there. It appears as though it’s on the calendar, but it isn’t when I go looking. I am tearing my hair out over this! IT SHOULDN’T BE SO DIFFICULT!
