Time machine slows down my mac

I´ve recently come to experience that my MacBook Air M2 with Sequoia 15.3.1 sometimes is extremely slow and unresponsive, with spinning wheel and so on. I´ve noticed that it is when Time machine is doing its backup to my Time Capsule the slowiness appears, when the backup is completed it goes back to normal. In Activity Monotor however I can see nothing that consumes a lot of CPU.

This is something that has started just last week or so.

Any ideas?

So I turned off TM entirely a few days ago and since then no problems at all. When TM was running I also noticed that it did very extensive backups; it ran on an hourly basis and did backups on several GBs every time even with me actually not doing anything in between except for emailing, Teams meetings and such. Is that really normal?

Any ideas anyone?
