How to assign multiple MIDI channels from an Omnichord to separate instruments in MainStage?

Hello, I am new to MainStage, I have read the pertinent sections of the manual but can't seem to be able to figure out how to do the following:

I would like to use a Suzuki Omnichord's MIDI output in addition to a MIDI keyboard.

The Omnichord is capable of sending 5 separate midi channels at the same time - 2 for the strumplate, 1 for bass, chords and drums each.

What I would like to do is trigger 5 separate instruments for each channel.

If I start with "keyboard minimalist", which has the electric piano as the single instrument, where would I add the additional instruments to map to the midi channels? Do I need additional instrument patches, or additional "channel strips" within the single patch, or something else entirely?

If I've understood your question, you should be able to add additional strips to a single patch and assign each strip's MIDI input to the Omnichord output and channel. The Omnichord will need presence on the canvas in order to be selectable as an output. You could just use a MIDI Activity assigned to the Omnichord on your canvas by placing it there in the Layout mode. Hope this gets you there!

Just to clarify, I want the Omnichord MIDI output to trigger sounds in Mainstage, different instruments playing at the same time.

Control of Omnichord via MainStage is not needed.

By the way I was able to easily accomplish the above in Halion Sonic - assign a separate instrument to each of the Omnichord’s midi channels. Just struggling to re-create this in Mainstage.

I understand that you do not want to control the Omnichord from MainStage. My suggestion was to take the Omnichord output and input to MainStage via channel strips.

Thank you, I will try doing it via the channel strips again and will see if I make any headway this time. If not, I’ll upload some screenshots.
