There’s a sidechain drop down on the synth’s main screen and I can pick something to trigger the side chain, but it doesn’t appear to do anything.
Is this feature documented anywhere? How do I use it?

This is a loaded question. I am not sure if I have seen the manual cover this.
You can use the SC function in Alchemy to work with the Envelope Follower. You can modulate any signal using any Audio Source (loops, samples, instruments, etc.) and even your own Mic Input.
