Need a wildcard for search

Is there a wildcard symbol I can use (like *) when searching. The name/contains does not provide this flexibility in a search.

I’m aware of comparatively few internet search engines that particularly support wildcards, and fewer (none?) with anything approaching regular expressions.

ASC local search lacks wildcard and regex support. The search filter feature is the available option.

Google apparently has an undocumented and comparatively weak wildcard available in quoted strings though, which can be combined with the site:discussions.apple.com keyword to target its search. It requires whitespace around the wildcard though, and apparently doesn’t work embedded

Dogpile shows results for wildcards across various search engines, as well.
