iPhone 16 Pro Max display screen glitching with vertical lines

I bought my iPhone 16 Pro Max 512 Gb last October. Once the glitching with vertical lines started I went to see the Apple Store Genius Bar staff. The phone settings were restored and I was asked to monitor it. The glitching started again and I was advised to replace the display screen. The glitching recurred and this time the Apple technical staff replaced the logic board mid-system. The glitching problem happened again and I was given a brand new iPhone 16 Pro Max as replacement. The new replacement also glitched with vertical lines very soon thereafter.

The glitching with vertical lines happens intermittently and randomly on the screen. Each occurrence happens only for a split second which makes taking a screenshot impossible.

Can anyone please advise on what I should do next?

You got a brand new iPhone 16 Pro Max from Apple Inc. The issue continues on the new device too.

Since the issue persists even on the new device, it might point to a deeper problem like environmental (like interference).

  1. Does this occur with other people too in the area where you live?
  2. Have you Jailbroken your device?
  3. Have you noticed if this glitch happens more often in specific locations, apps, or usage scenarios?
  4. Is your iOS fully updated?

It's wise to consider potential contributing factors beyond just inherent hardware defects. Here's a look at environmental factors and software modifications:

Environmental Factors:

  1. Extreme Temperatures:
    1. iPhones, like all electronic devices, are sensitive to extreme heat and cold. Excessive heat can definitely cause display issues and other malfunctions. If the phone is frequently exposed to very high temperatures, especially direct sunlight, this could be a factor.
    2. Conversely, extreme cold can also affect the display's performance.
  2. Humidity: High humidity can lead to moisture buildup inside the device, potentially causing electrical shorts or corrosion that could affect the display.
  3. Strong Magnetic Fields: While less common, strong magnetic fields can interfere with electronic devices.
  4. Static Electricity: In very dry environments, static electricity buildup could potentially cause temporary glitches.

Jailbreaking and Spurious Software:

  1. Jailbreaking:
    1. Jailbreaking an iPhone removes Apple's software restrictions, allowing users to install unauthorized apps and modify the operating system. This significantly increases the risk of software instability, conflicts, and malware infections, all of which could lead to display glitches.
    2. If the device has been jailbroken, the software is likely a strong contributing factor. Apple also will usually not support a jailbroken device.
  2. Spurious Software:
    1. Even without jailbreaking, installing apps from untrusted sources can introduce malware or poorly coded software that interferes with the display drivers or other system functions.
    2. Corrupted iCloud backups can also cause software issues.

In summary, while environmental factors and software modifications can contribute to display issues, the fact that you've experienced this problem on multiple replacement devices strongly suggests the area and how the device is being used.

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your input above.

I am the only one in my family who is experiencing this problem.

I am not tech savvy and don’t know how to jail break a device.

The glitch happens at random even when the screen is locked.

I always ensure that my IOS is up to date, hoping that the next update will resolve the issue.

My device is not exposed to environmental factors which you mentioned. There are numerous apple devices in my home as my family members are using iPhones and iPads and none are experiencing the glitching issue.

Installed apps are all from the Apple App Store.

I don’t know anything about Corrupted iCloud backups.

The new replacement iPhone was set up at the Apple Store.

I hope that it is just a software bug and will be resolved when 18.4 is out in April.

Thanks again for your help.
