Hello, beachmere21!

How do I know what [apps] are open on my new 16e

To go to the App Switcher on iPhone models without a Home Button, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and stop mid-swipe before lifting your finger. When you lift your finger, all of your open apps will display. To navigate through them, swipe horizontally. If you want to open one directly from the App Switcher, simply tap on the one you want to open. You can swipe upward on an app to close it. To exit the App Switcher, either tap on the background or flick your finger upward from the bottom of the screen.

If you have any more questions on how to use your iPhone, you can either ask Siri (on iOS 18.1 or later) or check out the iPhone User Guide.

I hope this helps!

The apps you see in the App Switcher are suspended. Unless they are misbehaving, there is no reason to "close" them. It doesn't save your battery and it may even slow down your phone. It's faster to open a suspended app than a closed one.
